I am a paleoecologist who integrates neontological and deep-time information to help understand our world. I use primary data from field research and large-scale biogeographic analyses to investigate the ecology of extinct mammals, to understand how climate and human activities intersect to impact ecosystems, and to predict ecological responses in the face of modern global change. My current research focuses on understanding the Ice Age ecosystems of North and South America and what led to their collapse.
My favorite extinct animal is the giant sloth.
